In many ways, the Saxon Sword paralleled the design of the Viking sword, possessing many of the same features. All in all, that is not a bad thing, though, as it means that this Saxon Sword is a simple yet impressive blade that looks fit for battle. This sword has a straight-edged blade with a triangular tip, which tips this blade closer to being a slashing and cutting weapon then a stabbing one (although the sharp point does deliver a potent thrust). Running down the center of the steel blade is a shallow yet wide fuller, which helps reduce the weight of the blade without compromising the weapons integrity or strength. The edges are left unsharpened. The swords guard is relatively simple and small, consisting of polished brass and wood accents before giving rise to the ribbed wood grip, which not only provides a greater look to the sword, but also makes it quite easy and comfortable to hold, too. The sword ends with a decorative pommel, also rendered in polished brass metal. The sword has an overall length of 41 inches, making it quite the impressively sized blade, too. It includes a working scabbard which makes carrying and storing this sword quite easy. Anyone who wants to show off the arms and armor of a Saxon warrior will find that this sword fits right into their collection, although you do not have to be a dedicated Saxon collector to enjoy this Saxon Sword, as it looks great in a variety of medieval collections and decors, as well as in the hands of a variety of different warriors.
